Transport Planner Vacancy

Due to an upcoming change of process, we are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the newly created role of PM transport planner. Starting at 21:00 Monday to Friday, you will manage the systemic planning and routing of our Collection &Delivery fleet. Key tasks Effectively plan and route daily C&D fleet ensuring KPI’s are met and exceeded where possible, using the drag and drop and mapping functions within the TMS, taking into account service types, i.e. timed, premium, economy etc. Ensure best use of resource to mirror volume, engaging with agencies to increase or decrease heads and vehicles as necessary. Create pick sheets, manifests, and where required, consignment notes to best support warehouse and driver functions. Balance service level, commercial cost, and legal compliance to create viable routes across a mixed fleet of vehicles. Identify and action quick wins surrounding bulk drops, direct runs and any other opportunities that arise. Work in tandem with both the transport and warehouse functions to achieve efficiency and productivity gains. Any other function related tasks as set by management. Role requirements Ability to influence and manage peers. Excellent knowledge of the Birmingham postcode area and geography Driven self-starter, with the ability to prioritise and resolve problems in a timely manner. Previous experience of using planning and routing software (essential). Clear, concise communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work to sometimes tight deadlines in a calm manner. Microsoft office skills, specifically Outlook and Excel.
